A/C Control recently encountered a unique project that was a special case for us. A stunning multi-million dollar home in sunny Pacific Palisades was built and promoted as a “green house” that did not need any HVAC System installed. This home, in addition to its already very hot location, was designed with a massive south-facing window that covers roughly 50% of the home. The architect convinced the homeowners that A/C wasn’t necessary and that the house would self-cool and successfully regulate temperature, despite the fluctuation of extreme heat in the summer and cold in the winter.

It wasn’t long before our clients realized how wrong this was. Based on the architect’s philosophy of not needing any air conditioning, the building had no room for the conventional central air conditioning, no attic, false ceiling, and basement. The homeowner had contacted several air conditioning companies and nobody was able to offer them the solution.

When the homeowners contacted A/C Control, the team did a thorough evaluation to have the least amount of invasive penetration of the walls and ceiling while maintaining the highest quality of air.

The engineer did a room-by-room cooling load calculation to size the system for each room. The selected system was Emura Ductless Mini-Split Heat Pump by Daikin. The Emura Ductless Mini-Split Design was a nice addition to the modern interior design. The house was divided into several zones and each zone had its own mini-split air handler. The benefit of using the zoning system is that the homeowner will be able to save on energy usage because only the occupied zone will have the associated air handler on.

The Emura Ductless Mini-Split has an intelligent eye and will turn off when it doesn’t see the occupancy. This feature can be disabled if the homeowner decides to keep the system on.

After installation of seven ductless mini-split zoned systems by A/C Control technicians who are certified by Daikin to install these high-tech ductless mini-split systems, the homeowners were pleasantly surprised with the look and performance of the ductless mini-split system.

This brand-new installation included equipment delivery, equipment installation, routing condensate pipes, and refrigerant pipes. The condensate pipes were routed in such a  way that the runoff would water the green roof and overall, be environmentally friendly.

Many worry that using HVAC systems will increase their eco-footprint by a margin they’re uncomfortable with. But with innovative environmentally conscious products and systems now readily available and understood, there is little need to worry that your system is responsible for depleting the ozone layer.

When selecting the right commercial HVAC and Residential HVAC Company In Los Angeles, it’s important to do your research and find out what systems they use, their installation practices, whether they hold liability insurance or not, if their technicians are trained and certified and have experience for your system.
