What Does SEER Mean? Does it Save Money? |
SEER stands for - Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio. A measure of cooling efficiency for air conditioners and heat pumps. The higher the SEER, the more energy efficient the unit. The government's minimum SEER rating is 10. (It's similar to comparing miles per gallon on a car).
A unit of higher SEER will lower energy bills. In addition, higher efficiency units usually have better and longer warranties on the compressor which is the most costly part to replace. Sometimes the longer warranties also include parts. |
